The so-called "Founding God" is generally known as the God of Earth. The Meinong people have special sentiments to the God of Earth. It is a spiritual support for the local communities. There are over 400 altars enshrining the God of Earth in Meinong Township; among which, Founding God of Earth (Kaiji Bogong) and the Jhuangtou God of Earth shrines are the most famous traditional Hakka altars.
