    Jhumen Power Plant  Jhumen Power Plant was built during the Japanese Colonial Period and began operations in 1909. This plant is equipped with four German-made power generation systems, which output 2000KW per hour. It was the earliest hydroelectric power plant in southern Taiwan. The water from power generation are released into the Shijitou canal to irrigate over 5000 hectares of farmland in the Meinong area. The Baroque style architecture has been classified as a national-class monument and the power plant is still in operation.
