East Gate Meinong's East Gate stands at the end of Yongan Road. This gate, built in the 20th year of the Qianlong Period (1755), was of the many city gates intended to ward off intrusions of outsiders and wild beasts. For over 250 years, this gate has been through many battles and reconstructions and still stands strong. It is currently the largest gate without city walls in Taiwan and the most valuable historic monument of the Meinong settlement.
